I need all 5 senses involved in this process. Sometimes I need to touch the walls, the furnishings and/or accessories to literally get a "better feel." Each house smells differently and each home houses its own sounds.
What is challenging is that when I bring buyers to the very homes that I am so excited about, they often have trouble seeing the same potential and can really only see what is right in front of them. When I offer specific ideas on how the home can be styled more to their tastes their faces appear blank.
Home buyers today want what they want, how they want it. When I bought my 1930's center hall colonial 15 years ago I fell in love. Making it my own is a passion I am still passionate about. It will never be "done," but rather an ongoing reflection of our lives in it.
Last week we finally got to the kitchen. It was an eyesore from the start, but we had placed more emphasis on our living room, 2 family rooms, master bedroom and saved the kitchen for last. It is no fun to live through a renovation, but I don't see what is in front of me, but what will soon be there.
